While the form was used prior to Baudelaire in 1855, it was this French poet who made the form into a popular form of poetry. The prose poem relies on the usual elements of poetry but is written without line breaks like nonfiction and resembles short fiction aside from the fact that the elements of poetry are present. It can be any length.
